Description
High Lodge at Galloway House is a single-storey picturesque lodge built in the mid-19th century. It features a rubble construction with polished red sandstone margins and quoins. The lodge has a central advanced gabled rustic porch, a four-light canted oriel window to the left, and a bipartite window to the right. At the rear, there is a cat-slide bay along with a door and two windows. The windows are casement style with moulded timber mullions and originally had leaded lattice glazing, which was removed and boarded in 1992. The end walls have projecting chimney breasts, and the lodge has deeply overhanging timber bracketed eaves, tall coped end stacks, and felted roofs, although the barge boards have been replaced.
