Description
Whithorn Lodge, located at Galloway House, is a single-storey ornamental lodge built in the mid-19th century. It features a bow-ended design and is constructed from rubble with polished raised red sandstone margins. At the rear, there is a long single-storey modern harled addition. The entrance elevation has three bays, with bi-partite and tripartite windows flanking the door, which includes a fanlight. The bowed end has a four-light window. The lodge has casement windows with timber moulded mullions and transoms, top hopper openings, and plate glass glazing. Deeply overhanging eaves create a verandah supported by chamfered timber posts. The front elevation has graded slate roofs, while the remainder is covered with blue Welsh slate. There is a central stack with coped diagonal cans. To the north, modern single-storey harled additions extend with a long west elevation, featuring single light sash and case windows.
