Description
Mayfield House Outbuildings are a circa 1800 structure, with possible earlier fabric incorporated, and subsequent alterations. They consist of a two-storey, three-bay house along with associated outbuildings. The house is constructed of rubble, with mostly stugged dressings, although some droved dressings are visible at the lower southeast angle. The south front is harled, and the first-floor windows have been enlarged with slab margins. The entire building is whitewashed with contrasting painted margins.
The south (main) elevation features a gabled central porch which is not original. The left bay is slightly wider and includes a cellar opening. The windows are sash windows with a 12-pane glazing pattern. An eaves course runs along the top, and the roof has straight skews and end stacks, covered with graded slates.
A rear lean-to extends from the main house, with the primary roofline sweeping over a long, single-storey range of outbuildings to the west. These outbuildings include a coachhouse, stable, and a three-bay cottage with a centre-doored front.
The building’s category was changed from B to C(S) on October 4, 1988. The statutory address is Mayfield House and Outbuildings.
