Description

The Driveway Bridge at Castlemilk, designed by David Bryce around 1865, features baronial details and spans the lake, supporting the Castlemilk Estate driveway. It is constructed from stugged and snecked ashlar with polished dressings and hoodmoulds. The bridge has a pointed main arch and flanking pedestrian arches, with stepped string courses. The pedestrian refuges are designed to resemble bartizans, and the parapets are widened at the approaches.
