Clock Tower, Adamson Square, Creetown

The Clock Tower, built around 1897, is a three-stage square tower situated in the centre of Adamson Square, Creetown. Constructed of Creetown granite, it is distinguished by a band course above the first stage. A door is located at ground level, with granite drinking troughs positioned to the north and south, and a bowl to the east. The tall second stage features louvred ventilator openings, flanked by angle pilasters. The third stage contains circular panels displaying Roman numeral clock faces on all four elevations. A crenellated and coped parapet tops the tower, above which a wrought-iron weathervane is secured by bowed wrought-iron ties. A plaque is fixed to the east face. The tower was likely erected to commemorate Queen Victoria's Jubilee. A comparable, more elaborate clock tower, dated 1871, is located in Gatehouse of Fleet and is listed separately.
