10 Academy Street, Stranraer

8 Academy Street in Stranraer is a pair of mirrored, 2-storey L-plan houses built in the later 19th century. The exterior is harled with painted dressings, featuring a base course, roll-moulded architraves around the upper storey windows, and architraves on the ground floor windows, along with channelled quoins.

On the south elevation, each house has a pilastered doorpiece with a replacement timber door and a letterbox fanlight. There are single windows aligned above on the first floor and single windows in both floors of the outer bays. The glazing has been replaced with modern materials, and there are Velux rooflights. The house at No 10 has a replacement concrete-tiled roof, while No 8 retains its original slate roof, both topped with coped gablehead stacks and polygonal cans. The original cast-iron rainwater goods are still in place.

The interiors were not seen in 1997. The property features low coped boundary walls, original iron railings, and a mutual gate.
