Description
Twynholm Parish Church, built in 1818, is a T-plan church featuring a porch on the south side and a vestry on the north. The church is constructed with rubble walling, accented by red sandstone at the angles and around the window margins. Each gable has pointed arch doors with fanlights and hoodmoulds. The pointed-arch windows also have hoodmoulds and timber tracery arranged in two tiers. A bell-cloche is located on the north gable, and the roof has saw-tooth skews with scroll skewputts and cross finials at the apex of the gables. The roofs are covered with slate and have sandstone ridges.
Inside, there is a stained glass window created by Stephen Adam in 1905. The graveyard surrounding the church is also rubble-walled and contains several notable gravestones from the late 18th century, although most of the gravestones are from the 19th century.
