Description

Anne House is a late 18th century, two-storey and basement, three-bay rectangular plan classical house located on Bellevilla Road in Stranraer. The building features a symmetrical design with single-storey extensions on both the left and right sides. It is constructed of painted rubble and includes a band course between the basement and ground floor, a cornice, a blocking course, and quoin strips.

The northwest elevation, which serves as the entrance, has steps and railings leading to a central Roman Doric doorpiece with a pediment. The door is made of timber and features a fanlight above it. There is a single window aligned above the door on the first floor, with additional single windows flanking both floors. To the outer right, there is a lean-to structure that connects the house to outbuildings.

On the southwest elevation, there is a central window situated between the ground and first floors, with regular flanking windows. A small window is located to the right of the ground floor window.

The property includes various outbuildings made of harled and brick materials, featuring piended and lean-to roofs on both the outer left and right sides of the house. The windows are a mix of plate glass and 12-pane timber sash and case styles, and there are skylights present. The roof is covered with grey slate, featuring piend and platform styles, with corniced central stacks, octagonal cans, and wallhead coped stacks on the outbuildings. The rainwater goods are made of cast iron.

The interior was not seen in 1997. The property is also surrounded by boundary walls that include a coped wall with railings, a central entrance with railings, square plan corniced gatepiers, and wrought-iron gates for both pedestrian and vehicular access.
