Description

The West Gate Piers and Railings at Kirkland House date back to the early 19th century. They feature square gatepiers made of red ashlar stone, which are panelled and topped with shaped finials. These gatepiers are connected by decorative cast-iron railings that have anthemion finials. The railings are elevated on a low ashlar cope. The gates themselves are also made of cast iron and display similar ornamental designs.
