Cally Main Gate Lodge, Gatehouse Of Fleet

Cally Main Gate Lodge is a pair of ornamental Scots Baronial lodges built in the later 19th century, located at the main entrance to Cally House, which is now the Cally Palace Hotel.

The lodges are asymmetrical, with the eastern lodge featuring a full-height turret and the western lodge having a canted bay window on the ground floor topped with a facetted roof. Both lodges are single storey with an attic and are designed in an L-shape. They are constructed from hammer-dressed coursed rubble masonry, accented with bull-faced granite quoins and margins. The steep crowstepped gables are finished with granite finials. Each lodge includes lean-to crowstepped porches at the re-entrant angles, featuring pointed-arch moulded doorways. The windows are single light with sash and case plate-glass, arranged in a two-pane configuration. The roofs are slate, and there are tall axial stacks.

The entrance features four tall ashlar gatepiers with swept pyramidal caps and ball finials, along with ornamental cast- and wrought-iron gates.
