Description
Longmyre Mains is a farmhouse designed by architect William Burn, built around 1833. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with crow-stepped gables facing the road, which suggests the presence of flanking wings. The house is constructed of stugged pink ashlar with polished dressings. The west elevation features a wide, basket-arched doorway with a deeply recessed door in a slightly advanced and gabled inner bay. The outer bays have canted ground floor windows, while the upper windows are topped with gabled dormer heads. The roof has saw-toothed skews and end stacks with projecting breasts, covered with graded slates. The rear wing is raised in red ashlar.
The steading consists of a rectangular-plan low range to the north and south, both built of rubble, with the west gables made of ashlar. There have been alterations to the openings, and the central barn has been demolished. The remainder of the steading is not included in the listing.
