Description
Dabton House Lodge and Gatepiers is a single-storey, three-bay lodge built around 1820, possibly designed by architect William Aitkinson. The lodge has a symmetrical T-plan and is constructed of stugged pink ashlar with polished dressings. It features a pilastered doorpiece with a cornice at the main eaves level, and a panelled two-leaf door topped with a decorative fanlight. The windows are sash style with 12-pane glazing, and there is a continuous eaves course. A single tall apex stack with a block cornice sits atop the piended roof, which is covered with graded slates. The lodge has single bay flanks and a pedimented rear wing, along with later additions including a porch. The gatepiers are square with bellcast caps, accompanied by curved low quadrant walls that are coped and have terminal piers, all made of pink ashlar. The entrance features cast-iron gates with a latticed pattern and spiked rails.
