Description
Roberthill is a late 18th century farmhouse that is two stories high and has three bays. It is accompanied by adjoining L-plan steading blocks, with the northern block featuring an arcaded cartshed. The remainder of the steading is not included in the listing. The house was deepened in plan and heightened around 1800. It is constructed of whitewashed rubble with ashlar dressings, and the house has contrasting painted margins. All roofs are covered with graded slates.
The eastern elevation faces the courtyard and has uniform height and build with the flanking ranges. The house was raised and deepened to the west, resulting in taller storeys and a base course. It features a central porch from the mid-19th century and sash windows with 4-pane glazing. The roof has straight skews, end stacks, and a uniform pitch. There were 19th century alterations made to the courtyard.
The northern flanking block, which adjoins the house, is now largely domestic in use. Its main roof sweeps over a shelter in the re-entrant angle, and the cartshed has four arcaded segmental arches with loft openings above. The southern range is simpler in design.
