Description
Moss-Side Cottage is a single-storey cottage, likely dating to around 1840 and designed by the architect Walter Newall. It has been altered since its original construction. The cottage comprises five bays (one central bay and two bays of three), with a central entrance. Originally, doors were located in the second and fourth bays. The windows are square, with the outer windows featuring mullions. Construction is of rubble stone with ashlar dressings and painted margins. The cottage has corniced stacks and a piended slate roof. A modern addition has been built to the rear and to the west flank. Records related to Walter Newall's acquisition are held within Dumfries Museum.
