Description
Boreland of Southwick is an earlier to mid-19th century farm steading consisting of one and two-storey buildings arranged around a large square courtyard. The symmetrical south elevation features a central pend leading to the courtyard, with a piend roofed dovecot above. To the northeast, there is a two-storey threshing barn, along with a two-storey barn range to the north, where some cart arches have been blocked. An L-plan open cattle court extends into the courtyard on the east side, supported by granite piers and covered with a corrugated iron pitch roof. The buildings are primarily constructed of rubble, mostly painted, with slate roofs, while some of the single-storey structures have corrugated iron roofs.
