Description
Kirkland House, located on School Lane in Moffat, was built around 1865 and features an asymmetrical design with ecclesiastical detailing. This two-storey building includes a three-storey tower with an entrance situated at the base in the re-entrant angle of the main elevation. The door is set under a chamfered arch and features three small lancets in the tympanum, with a cusped lancet above. Each face of the upper stage has paired, shouldered lights with a central shaft. The tower is topped with a swept pyramidal roof. To the east, there is a large two-storey bay with a five-light semi-circular window. Additionally, the advanced west gabled bay has a large mullioned and transomed cusped stair window. The roof is gabled and slated.
