20-22 Damside, Dean Village, Edinburgh

20-22 Damside is an 18th-century tenement in Dean Village, Edinburgh, which may incorporate some earlier elements. The building has undergone later alterations, including the addition of attic dormers and the conversion of outbuildings into a separate residential dwelling. It is a three-storey structure with a roughly four-bay, shallow rectangular plan, rendered with plain margins. There is a band course between the first and second floors. The fenestration is mostly regular, with later enlarged openings on the eastern elevation and a bipartite window breaking the wallhead on the western elevation. The attic features later rectangular dormers with tile-hung cheeks.

The windows are predominantly timber sash and case with 8-pane glazing, although some plate glass is present in the outbuilding. The roof is pitched and covered with black slates, featuring coped rendered gable end stacks topped with octagonal clay cans. The building also has cast-iron rainwater goods.
