Description
189-191 Canongate in Edinburgh is a 17th-century building that was predominantly rebuilt in 1957 by Robert Hurd. This four-storey, three-bay tenement features a large shouldered wallhead chimney at the center, with paired windows on either side at the first, second, and third floors. The ground floor includes a shop with a central door flanked by fixed-pane display windows. The exterior is made of squared and snecked rubble with red stucco render, and it has raised cills. A metal plaque is located at the center of the first floor, set within a square chamfered ashlar recess. The building has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a roof covered with red pantiles, and cast-iron rainwater goods.
