10-11 Wellington Place, Edinburgh

9 Wellington Place is an early 19th-century tenement building that stands four storeys high with an attic and features 11 bays. It was constructed in two stages, with the right side consisting of five bays. The building is made of cream sandstone, with stugged ashlar and polished dressings. The ground floor on the left side is rusticated and includes a band course and a cill course above the first floor. The eaves cornice is mutuled and has a blocking course, while ornamental iron window guards are present on the second-floor windows of the four outer right bays.

The southwest (front) elevation features six symmetrical bays on the left side, with plain doorways in the two centre bays, recessed panelled doors, and a plate glass fanlight to the right door. An umbrella pattern is found to the left, and there is regular fenestration in the remaining bays on each floor, along with three rectangular, slate-hung tripartite dormers.

On the right side, there is a pilastered and corniced doorway at the centre with a panelled door and a rectangular plate glass fanlight, along with single windows on the floors above. A plain common stair doorway is located on the outer left, with single windows above it. The remaining bays also have regular fenestration, and there are two rectangular bipartite dormers. The building features 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a slate roof with metal flashings, and a coped mutual and transverse stack, as well as Velux rooflights.

The interior was not seen in 1993. The boundary walls consist of a low rubble wall with saddleback coping and iron arrowhead railings, which were in the process of refurbishment in 1992, and include urn finials at intervals.
