Description
15-17 Glengyle Terrace is a four-storey and basement block of tenement flats built between 1867 and 1870 by David McGibbon. The building features a six-bay façade constructed from polished ashlar. Notable architectural elements include band courses at the height of the doors and at cill levels, an eaves cornice, and a carved rosette motif on the band beneath the eaves. The windows are bracketed and set in moulded surrounds, with a slight batter on the third floor. Stone mullions are present in the bipartite windows, which also feature chip carving decoration. The ground floor has alternating doors and windows, with stone steps and platts leading to the basement areas. The doors are timber panelled with plate glass fanlights in moulded surrounds. The outer bays contain bipartite windows, while the four inner bays have single windows.
The property is complemented by spear-headed cast-iron railings on a low stone-coped wall surrounding the basement area and steps. The windows predominantly consist of plate glass set in timber sash and case frames. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are rendered stacks at the wallhead, which are splayed, as well as at the ridge.
