Public House, 1, 3 East London Street, Edinburgh

This building is a public house located at 1 and 3 East London Street in Edinburgh, constructed around 1867. It is a four-storey, nine-bay terraced plain classical corner tenement featuring a shop and a public house with a bowed ground floor. The exterior is made of sandstone ashlar with margins, and it includes a band course fascia band, cill bands at the first and third floors, projecting and bracketed cills at the third floor, and corniced eaves.

On the northwest elevation facing East London Street, there are ten bays at the ground level, with recessed entrances that have fanlights in the second and fourth bays, flanked by plate glass shop windows. The central entrance leads to a common stair and also features a fanlight. The public house occupies the bays to the right, with a recessed entrance framed by pilasters and a broken segmental pediment. The remaining bays have windows, and the upper floors display regular fenestration arranged in groups of three.

The building has timber sash and case windows with four-pane glazing, a roof covered in grey slates, ridge stacks with terracotta cans, and a rooflight. The interior was not seen in 1998.
