Gate Lodge, Trinity Cottage, Ferry Road, Edinburgh

The Gate Lodge at Trinity Cottage on Ferry Road in Edinburgh dates from the mid-19th century. It features boundary walls made of ashlar-coped rubble, which have been heightened with aggregate materials, curving around the corner to South Trinity Road. The lodge has a hemicycle facing the end of Inverleith Row, with central carriage gates and flanking pedestrian gates. It is flanked by square section ashlar gatepiers that have cornices and pyramidal caps, along with original cast-iron gates. There are two additional footgates to the west, which have similar piers.

To the west of the gates is a single-storey lodge constructed from coursed rubble with droved ashlar dressings. The lodge has a piend roof with bracketed eaves and a blocked entrance in the central bay, which features a timber gable porch. The flanking windows are also blocked. At the rear, there is a piend-roofed extension with a bipartite window that is blocked. The roof is covered with graded grey slates, and there are tall ashlar stacks with circular cans.
