5 Peacock Court, Newhaven, Edinburgh

3-4 Peacock Court in Newhaven, Edinburgh, is a mid to late 18th century building that was recast and converted by Ian Lindsay & Partners around 1970. It is a three-storey, two-bay block that is part of a courtyard set back from No 5, with an additional two bays at the rear. The building has a rectangular plan and features a full-height advanced bay to the left of center. The exterior is harled and limewashed, with raised and painted cement surrounds to the openings, and there are exterior stairs with timber railings leading to the first floor.

On the west (entrance) elevation, there is a central two-leaf timber door at ground level (with No 3 on the left and No 4 on the right). To the right of the door, there is a storage door beneath the stairs, and to the left, another timber door. There are single windows at ground level in the outer left and right bays. Stairs lead to the first floor entry (with No 1 on the left and No 2 on the right), and there is a storage door to the left, along with single windows in the left and right bays.

The east (rear) elevation is two-bay, with the south wall of No 5 overlapping the rear facade. This elevation is regularly fenestrated at both ground and first floors. The building features 12-pane timber sash and case windows on both elevations. The roof is machine-made red pantiled, with precast concrete skews. There are harled apex stacks to the north and south, topped with concrete coping and circular cans.
