Warehouse, 54 Timber Bush, Edinburgh

This building consists of a pair of converted warehouses located at 55 and 57 Timber Bush in Edinburgh, dating from the early to mid 19th century, with the eastern range possibly being slightly older. The warehouses are five stories tall and symmetrical, featuring cream sandstone on the front and coursed and squared rubble, with coursed rubble to the rear, accented by droved dressings.

On the northeast (front) elevation, the eastern range has a segmental-arched pend on the outer left with rounded edges on the jambs, and a larger segmental-arched opening in the center bay. The remaining bays have single windows. The western range has wider openings at the ground floor, including a doorway in the center and another on the outer right. Above the ground floor, each warehouse features hoist doors in the center bays that break the eaves, along with hoists at the gable heads and modern hinged loading platforms. The fourth-floor windows are horizontally proportioned, while the other bays have single windows.

The southwest (rear) elevation shows a six-bay western range that is advanced by two bays, with two large openings (now glazed) in the center. The eastern range has a segmental-arched pend and an opening, with single windows above. There is a forestair in the re-entrant angle that rises to the outer right bay at the fourth floor, topped with a gabled dormerhead. The fourth-floor windows match those of the front elevation.

The warehouses have modern small-pane timber casement windows and a slate roof. The interior was not seen in 1993.
