Description
8 Argyle Place is a two-storey, four-bay double villa built around 1863, forming part of a continuous terrace. The exterior features coursed stugged ashlar with polished dressings on the west elevation. It has a base course, overhanging bracketed timber eaves, and fielded aprons beneath the first-floor windows.
On the west (entrance) elevation, the entrances are located in the outer left and right bays, featuring moulded door surrounds and cornices, panelled doors, and plate glass fanlights. Above these entrances are single windows on the first floor. The central bays have full-height canted windows.
The villa has eight-pane sash and case windows, a grey slate roof, a coped mutual stack, moulded cans, and skylights. The interiors were not seen in 1990. There is boundary coping along the street.
