Description

The icehouse at the Hermitage of Braid, located on Braid Road in Edinburgh, dates back to the 18th century. This subterranean structure is built from rubble and is situated to the south of the Hermitage of Braid, just above the Braid Burn, with a drainage channel connecting the two. It features a small pointed-arch doorway with rugged dressings and a barred pointed-arch gate leading into the entrance passage. Inside, there is a circular well topped with a brick-arched ceiling.
