Description
148, 150, 152 and 154 High Street in Edinburgh is an early 19th-century tenement that incorporates earlier materials. It is a five-storey, five-bay building featuring a central Classical doorpiece adorned with an oyster shell motif. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar with raised cills. The ground floor has later shopfronts, and there is a round-arched opening on the far left that leads to Bell's Wynd.
The building predominantly has 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a single piended-roof dormer situated between the third and fourth bays, and is covered with Scottish slate. Notably, it has particularly broad brick and ashlar stacks, clay cans, and cast-iron rainwater goods.
