Description
Three K6 telephone kiosks, designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in 1935 and produced between 1936 and 1968, are located on the High Street in Edinburgh. These standard kiosks are arranged in a line on slightly sloping ground. Each kiosk features four sides of glazing with eight panes high, including narrow margin lights. One side has a cup handle at the fourth or fifth pane, which serves as the door. The rear of each kiosk has a blind cast-iron panel that includes a telephone and shelf unit. Each side also has a rectangular opal glass panel with a vent below and a central embossed crown above. The kiosks rise into four segmental-headed pediments that culminate in a saucer dome. They are made of cast iron and painted in Post Office red.
