1, 3, 5 Forrest Road, Edinburgh

This building, located at 1, 3, and 5 Forrest Road in Edinburgh, dates from around 1845 and is a three-storey, four-bay angled tenement block with shops on the ground floor. It is situated on a narrow triangular site and features a bow shape facing Greyfriars Place. The exterior is constructed of sandstone ashlar, which is painted at the ground floor. Key architectural details include a base course, a cornice at the ground floor, a cill course at the first floor, and a moulded eaves cornice.

The first-floor windows are set in corniced, bracketed, and lugged architraves, while the second-floor windows have lugged architraves. There is a timber panelled door in a moulded surround with an 8-pane fanlight located in the left bay. The central shop retains its original openings, with a door to the left and a window to the right, although it features modern glazing. The shop to the right has modern openings. At the rear, there is a gable and wallhead stack.

The building has a mix of 8-pane glazing and plate glass in timber sash and case windows. The corniced wallhead and ridge stacks are rendered at the front and have circular cans.
