Description

13 and 15 Leith Street is a late 18th century tenement block that features a wedge plan and stands four storeys tall with an attic. The building has a near-symmetrical design with three bays and is constructed of droved ashlar, complemented by polished cills, mullions, and a cornice, while the rear is finished in coursed rubble. The ground floor showcases a pilastraded timber shopfront, and there is a cill band present on all upper floors, along with a mutuled eaves cornice and a blocking course. The facade is regularly fenestrated.

On the northwest elevation facing Leith Street, there is a set-back modern door at the center, flanked by large windows on either side. To the far left, a timber-panelled door with a square fanlight is set within a segmental-arched opening. The upper floors feature a blind window at the center, flanked by tripartite windows on either side. Above, there are two piend-roofed dormers.

The southeast elevation at the rear is a four-bay, seven-storey structure with predominantly irregular fenestration and droved margins, with some openings having been later enlarged or added.

In terms of glazing, the ground floor has modern plate glass in timber frames, while the upper floors and dormers predominantly feature 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows, with 4-pane glazing in timber sash and case on the outer sections of the tripartite windows. The building has grey slate roofs and haffits on the dormers, with a pitched roof also covered in grey slate, stone skews, and skewputts. There is a brick gablehead stack with circular cans on the right and a brick ridge stack on the left.
