Description

James Nisbet, circa 1790; subsequent alterations; ground floor reinstated by Covell Matthews Partnership, 1978-80. 3-storey basement and attic, 3-bay former classical house. Polished cream sandstone ashlar. Channelled rustication at ground; fluted band course with rosettes supports giant fluted Corinthian pilasters at upper floors, paired at ends, with swagged frieze, cornice and solid parapet; fluted band course above 1st floor (between pilasters). Pair of modern canted piend-roofed dormers.

Full-height bowed bay to rear.

Timber sash and case 12-pane windows. Ashlar coped skews, stone stacks; grey slates.

INTERIOR: linked with No 113. Very fine interior at upper floors with typical Nisbet plaster detailing (see Queen Street) including curving cantilevered stone stair with straight landings and enriched cupola. Extended into saloon to rear.

RAILINGS: reinstated cast-iron fleur-de-lys railings.
