Description

5, 7, 9 Broughton Place is a classical tenement building constructed in 1809. It is a three-storey structure with a basement, and a third floor was added to Nos 1-3. The building features a 20-bay terraced design, made of sandstone ashlar with rustication at the ground level. It has a base course, a band course between the ground and first floors, a cill band at the first floor, and at the second floor in Nos 11-15. The building is topped with an eaves cornice and a blocking course, and it has ashlar steps and entrance platforms that extend over the basement.

On the north elevation facing Broughton Place, there are timber panelled doors with fanlights in bays 3, 4, 5, 10, 12, 14, 19, and 20, while the remaining bays contain windows. The upper floors have regular fenestration, with smaller windows on the second floor in four bays to the left, and three windows on the additional floor in Nos 1-3. The windows are timber sash and case with 12-pane and plate glass glazing. The roof features ridge stacks with terracotta cans, rooflights, and decorative cast-iron railings.

The interior was not seen in 1998.
