7-11 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh

7-11 Nicolson Square is a later 18th century, four-storey, six-bay corner tenement. The ground floor has been altered for commercial use, and there is a three-storey piend-roofed ashlar bay added to the left around 1886. The building features later projecting, flat-roofed, single-storey shop fronts facing Nicolson Square to the south. The structure is made of coursed rubble with some Aberdeen bonding and has raised margins, some of which are painted. There is a cornice at the third and top storeys.

At No 7, there is a later seven-light canted bay window on the first storey. The upper storeys of the bay to the left have three-light windows with timber mullions. No 8 has a six-panelled timber entrance door with a rectangular fanlight above it. The shop front at No 11 includes a recessed glass and timber entrance door.

The upper storeys predominantly feature plate glass timber sash and case windows, while the shops have plate glass. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are coped gable stacks.
