Description

1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 Nicolson Street is a tall, five-storey and attic Classical tenement building dating from around 1790. It features a 10 x 15-bay layout with commercial premises on the ground floor. The building is constructed of ashlar stone with raised cills, and includes decorative band courses and a cornice.

The east elevation facing Nicolson Street has an off-centre entrance door leading to the flats, flanked by shopfronts that have timber fascias, recessed entrance doors, timber pilasters, mullions, and cills, along with panelled stall risers. The shopfront on the right is enhanced with decorative semi-circular console brackets.

On the South College Street side, the shopfronts also feature timber fascias, timber transoms and mullions, along with panelled stall risers. The upper storeys predominantly have 12-pane timber sash and case windows, while the ground floor has plate glass windows. The roof is covered with grey slates and includes coped gable stacks.
