The Clydesdale Inn, 26-28 Grassmarket, Edinburgh

The Clydesdale Inn, located at 26-28 Grassmarket in Edinburgh, dates from around 1800. This four-storey, four-bay tenement features shops on the ground floor. The building is constructed of droved ashlar with polished dressings, although the ground floor has been painted. It has a moulded cornice at the ground floor with a polished band above, polished cill bands on the second and third floors, and an eaves cornice with a blocking course.

At the center, there is a timber panelled door leading to the flats, with two windows to the left, which are now part of the Beehive Inn, and two windows flanking the door to the shop on the right. The second floor is adorned with decorative cast-iron window guards. The ground floor features modern glazing, while the upper floors have 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are stone skews and corniced stacks.
