12 Bellfield Street, Portobello, Edinburgh

10 Bellfield Street in Portobello, Edinburgh, is an early 19th-century mirrored pair of two-storey, two-bay terraced houses that have undergone later alterations. The buildings are constructed of squared rubble, which is now heavily pointed, with droved ashlar dressings; the dressings on No 10 are all painted. They feature a base course and possibly later, slightly raised quoins.

The southeast (principal) elevation has nine-panelled doors set in corniced doorpieces, with No 12 being cement rendered. These doors are located in the central bays, above which are rectangular plate glass fanlights and windows on the first floor. Each flanking bay has windows on both floors.

The northwest (rear) elevation includes modern and pre-1856 extensions to the rear of both houses, with a piended single-storey extension to the outer left of No 12.

Both houses have 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a graded slate roof, and ashlar skews and apex stacks at the outer limits of the pair.

The boundary walls consist of rendered material with coping for No 10 and rubble with coping for No 12. The interior was not seen in 1994.
