6 Bellfield Street, Edinburgh

4 Bellfield Street in Edinburgh is a pair of classical terraced houses built in the later 19th century, with some later additions and alterations. The houses are two stories high and have three bays. The front is finished in polished ashlar, while the rear is constructed of rubble. Key architectural features include a base course, a band course, a cill course at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course.

On the principal elevation facing southeast, the central bays feature pilastered and corniced doorpieces, with a pediment-tablet above. The doors are deep-set and panelled, with plate glass rectangular fanlights and windows above each door at the first floor. Each of the flanking bays has a window on both floors.

The northwest rear elevation has a modern third storey with a flat roof at No 4, which is visible from the front, and there is a small extension at the rear of No 6. The windows at No 4 are 4-pane timber sash and case, while No 6 has plate glass windows. The roof is double-pitched and slate-covered, with an additional slated storey at the rear. The skews are made of ashlar, and there are rendered and coped end stacks.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1994. The boundary walls along Bellfield Street are continuous, built of rubble with coping.
