16 Bellfield Street, Portobello, Edinburgh

14 Bellfield Street is a pair of early 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay houses that have undergone later additions and alterations. They are situated on sloping ground at the end of a terrace. The buildings are constructed from squared sandstone with droved dressings, featuring a harled side elevation and a harled rear for No 14, while No 16 has a rubble rear. There is a base course and a cill course at the first floor level, with quoins at the northeast end.

The southeast (principal) elevation showcases corniced ashlar doorpieces with panelled doors in the outer bays. No 14 has a plate glass rectangular fanlight, while No 16 features a four-pane fanlight. Each house has windows at the first floor above the windows in the intermediate bays, with the central bay of No 16 being blinded at the first floor.

The northwest (rear) elevation includes single-storey extensions that were added before 1856 and are still present. The houses feature 12-pane timber sash and case windows, a slate roof, rendered end stacks, and a brick mutual stack, with a coped ashlar dividing skew.

The interior was not seen in 1994. The boundary walls are made of rubble with coping, and there are tall polished ashlar, corniced gatepiers with chamfered arrises at the northeast of the front boundary wall of No 16, although the entrance is now filled in.
