6 South Gray Street, Edinburgh

6 South Gray Street is a classical house built around 1815. It is two stories high and has three symmetrical bays. The exterior is made of droved cream sandstone with ashlar dressings. The ground floor windows have advanced cills, while the first floor windows feature a cill course. The building is topped with a dentilled cornice and a blocking course.

On the entrance elevation, there is a central doorway with a panelled door and a diamond-patterned fanlight. The doorpiece is adorned with engaged columns, carved paterae, and a dentilled cornice. Above the doorway, there is a single window on the first floor, and there are single windows in both outer bays on both floors.

The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with coped and rendered wallhead stacks.

The interior was not seen in 1996.

Surrounding the property are boundary walls, gatepiers, and a pedestrian gate. There is a low, coped rubble wall along the street, with higher rubble walls to the north and south. The gatepiers are corniced with pyramidal caps and ball finials, and there is a pedestrian gate next to the house on the south side.
