Description

Circa 1830 with mid 19th century additions. 2 storey, 7 bay, near symmetrical classical house with single storey wing (No 9a) adjoining to N. Cream sandstone rubble to central (original) block; coursed rubble to E, W sides and rear (painted at ground to W); ashlar dressings. Base course; advanced cills; dividing band course; cornice; overhanging eaves.

S (WEST MAYFIELD) ELEVATION: advanced, 3 bay central block; 2 bay terminal blocks; doorways to bays to outer left (11 West Mayfield) and at centre; panelled doors; plate glass fanlight to No 11, 3 pane fanlight to No 9; bracketed glass canopy above; single windows to 1st floor above. Single windows to both floors in remaining bays; additional narrow window to E of doorway to No 11.

E (SOUTH GRAY STREET) ELEVATION: single windows to ground floor outer right and to single storey wing to N.

12 pane, timber sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roof; corniced ridge stacks; coped wallhead stacks, rendered to E; moulded cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1996.

BOUNDARY WALLS: high, coped rubble wall to street; pedestrian gates to South Gray Street wall (entrance to No 9) adjoining house and to single storey wing to N (entrance to No 9a).
