Description
Hippolyte J Blanc, 1876 with modern alterations. 2 storey and basement, 3 bay asymmetrical Gothic style house with single storey wing adjoining to E. Squared and snecked cream rubble sandstone with ashlar dressings. Base course; decorative bargeboards; deeply overhanging eaves.
N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: steps to central pointed arched doorway; panelled door; plate glass fanlight; single round arched window to 1st floor above; single window to ground floor outer left set in pointed arched panel with quatrefoil motif; single window to 1st floor above with pediment breaking eaves. Advanced, gabled bay to outer right; trefoil headed tripartite window at ground; shouldered arched tripartite window to 1st floor above; carved quatrefoil roundel and pointed arch to gablehead. Single storey wing adjoining house to E with shouldered arched bipartite window.
S ELEVATION: modern extension to basement supporting balcony to ground floor above; 3 light canted window to ground floor outer left; bipartite window to 1st floor above; tripartite windows to both floors in bay to outer right.
Plate glass, timber, sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roof; tall wallhead stacks.
INTERIOR: not seen 1996.
BOUNDARY WALLS, GATEPIER AND PEDESTRIAN GATE: low coped boundary wall to street; high rubble mutual wall to E terminating in panelled gatepier. Pedestrian gate adjoining house to E.
