Description

Thomas Bonnar, 1824-1830. 4-storey and basement, 36-bay terraced classical tenement (4th storey as wallhead attic). Sandstone ashlar. Base course, round-arched recesses at ground, band course to ground cutting bays at lintel, band course between ground and 1st floors meeting architraves of windows above, architraved and corniced windows at 1st floor with panelled aprons and pediments to 2nd bay and every 3rd bay thereafter, architraved windows and cill band at 2nd floor, frieze and cornice above, corniced eaves, ashlar steps and entrance platts oversailing basement. Cills of 1st floor windows lowered removing apron.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: timber panelled doors in entrances with round-arched radial fanlights to bays 3, 4, 7, 10, 15, 18, 19, 22, 27, 30, 31 and 34, windows in round-arched recesses to bays remaining.

Timber sash and case glazing with predominantly 12-pane glazing, some plate glass glazing, grey slates, stacks with terracotta cans, fleur-de-lys headed cast-iron railings.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
