215 Ferry Road, Edinburgh

This building, located at 215 Ferry Road in Edinburgh, dates from around 1840 and consists of a mirrored pair of two-storey and attic three-bay semi-detached houses. The exterior is finished in polished cream sandstone ashlar and features a base course, a cill course at the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course. The houses have a regular arrangement of windows with raised architraves. The panelled doors are complemented by rectangular fanlights and cornices in the outer bays. Notably, No 215 has a piend-roofed canted dormer.

The houses are flanked by ashlar pedestrian gateways that lead to the rear areas. The end elevations are constructed from rubble and include a round-headed stair window at the center, along with a pair of attic windows. The glazing consists of timber sash and case windows, with plate glass in No 215 and four-pane windows in No 217. The roofs are covered with grey slates, featuring ashlar coped skews, corniced ashlar stacks, and octagonal chimney cans.

In front, there is a low coped ashlar wall with octagonal cast-iron gatepiers leading to No 215.
