Description

Circa 1860, with later additions. 2-storey 3-bay T-plan gabled Tudor villa on corner site with 3-stage tower attached at NW corner; S and W faces enclosed by out-of-character later additions. Cream squared and snecked sandstone with stugged ashlar dressings.

N (FERRY ROAD) ELEVATION: advanced gabled bay to right with canted window at ground, bipartite above with hoodmould, arrowslit in gablehead; door to centre bay with narrow closet window to left; tripartite window with hoodmould to left; pair of round-headed 1st floor windows breaking eaves with gabled dormerheads. Filigreed bargeboards to eaves and gables.

Tower with part-blocked hoodmoulded Tudor doorway at ground; projecting bipartite window at 1st stage with moulded corbel and stone cap; bipartite window to 2nd stage with hoodmould and bracketed balconette; heavy cornice supports crested parapet. Other faces blank with bipartite window to 2nd stage (balustraded apron to W).

Timber sash and case plate glass windows. Grey slates; terracotta ridge tiles; rendered and ashlar stacks; octagonal cans.

Low ashlar saddleback coped rubble boundary walls.
