Description

The ha-ha and steps at Colinton Castle, located on Colinton Road in Edinburgh, date from the late 18th century. This structure features a high wall that forms an inset ha-ha, complemented by an integral flight of steps flanked by stone wing walls. The walls are made of squared, coursed sandstone and topped with smooth ashlar copes.

On the principal elevation, the high wall with flat stone copes is set into a terraced bank that supports trees and a flower garden above. A central flight of 10 steps, with stone risers and treads, leads across the garden to Colinton Castle.
