5 Duddingston Mills, Edinburgh

5 Duddingston Mills in Edinburgh is a group of five single-storey, three-bay cottages built around 1828, with modern extensions added to the rear. The cottages are constructed of squared coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. Each cottage features a timber boarded door, which is flanked by a large sliding window on one side and a smaller window on the other. The central cottage is slightly taller and has an advanced gable bay, with steps leading up to the timber boarded door that includes a letterbox and a fanlight. There is a blind arrowslit on the gable, coped skews, and flanking casements beside the door. Each end of the terrace also has coped skews.

The cottages have regularly placed ridge stacks between them, topped with cylindrical cans. The windows include 16-pane horizontally sliding types and 8-pane single casements, with modern casements on the central cottage (number 3). The roofs are covered with grey slates.

In front of the cottages, there is a low random rubble boundary wall with rounded cope-stones.
