Description
Barcaldine Castle was built between 1595 and 1610 and underwent restoration in the late 19th century. It has an L-shaped plan and consists of three storeys plus a garret. The exterior is made of rubble, which has been recently harled, and features corbie-step gables and a slated roof. The castle includes angle turrets and a semi-circular stair tower at the entrance, which is equipped with an iron gate. Iron window grills are also present. The interior has been restored, with the Great Hall being particularly notable.
