Description
The farm complex, located at Mill Farm, Loch Creran, probably dates to the late 18th or early 19th century and sits on a hillside overlooking the Allt Garraich burn. It includes a corn mill, threshing barn, and cottage, all relatively well-preserved. The buildings are constructed of rubble, with some areas whitewashed, and incorporate corrugated iron additions.
The corn mill is a single-story, rectangular building, reflecting its former use with a water wheel. It is situated against the hillside with a crow-stepped gable. The west front features a central doorway and three bays, covered by a corrugated iron roof.
The threshing barn is a two-level structure, also built into the hillside, facing the mill across the burn. Its western elevation is single-story, with two low-level doors. The upper level replicates the lower, featuring a loft door centrally and a pair of slit ventilators on either side. Low ranges, one slated and one with corrugated iron, adjoin each gable.
The cottage is L-shaped and has a piended and gabled slate roof. The east front, facing the yard, has a central doorway and three bays, with sash windows. The roof is slate, distinguished by its circular stacks.
