Description
The mill, threshing barn, and cottage at Mill Farm, Loch Creran, are likely late 18th and early 19th century and form a well-preserved group situated on the Allt Garraich burn at the edge of Loch Creran. The buildings are constructed of rubble, with some parts whitewashed, and have corrugated iron additions.
The corn mill is a single-storey, rectangular building, reflecting its original form around the mill wheel. It is built against the natural slope of the land, with a crow-stepped gable. The west front has three bays, centred on a doorway, and a corrugated iron roof.
The threshing barn is two-level, also built against the slope facing the mill across the Allt Garraich. A single-storey elevation faces west, with two doorways at a low level. The upper level has similar treatment to the long walls, with a loft door centrally positioned, and a pair of slit ventilators on either side. A low-pitched slated range adjoins each gable; the one to the north is corrugated iron.
The cottage is L-shaped with a piended and gabled slate roof. The three-bay east front faces a yard and features sash windows. The cottage has a distinctive slate roof with circular chimney stacks.
