Description
Lochnell House is a building that was restored by George Woulfe Brenan after it was destroyed by fire around 1885. The eastern part of the house dates back to the earlier 18th century and is designed in the Georgian style. It has three storeys and originally featured five bays, but now has four. The exterior is rendered, and it has a piended slated roof with corner stones. The facade includes a projecting pavilion with three bays, adorned with urns on the pediment and a moulded doorway. The symmetrical facade has been altered by the removal of the fifth bay and the addition of the western part.
The western part of the house is from the earlier 19th century and has a castellated design. It also has three storeys and three bays, with a four-storey tower at the western angle. This section is constructed from coursed rubble. There are additional structures at the rear that are still gutted and roofless.
